In a competitive job market and a technology landscape that’s in the throes of its usual dynamics, attracting and retaining top talent is upfront on every HR leader’s radar. Seeking better workplace experiences is among the many reasons for professionals who seek new career avenues. Against the backdrop of macroeconomic headwinds, the talent community at Movate is vibrant as ever thanks to the path paved by its leaders.
Disruptive innovations and other market forces pose challenges for HR teams in charge of shaping the workforce and workplace.
In this blog we take a look the excerpts from the article originally published on ETHRWorld where Movate’s EVP & Chief People Officer, Anish Philip, shared initiatives that are on full-swing in the organization and their contribution to a vibrant workforce.
Holistic retention approach
While market volatility affects all, it’s how organizations deal with it and what they do during that phase. Movate has gone on to thrive besides weathering the storm to increase the global headcount to 12,000 employees. The holistic retention approach has fared well with Movate’s “People-first, People Always” culture that’s deeply ingrained in the team. A multi-dimensional retention approach revolves around the career lifecycle from hiring to career development and compensation. Knowing that their careers are taken care of provides a deep sense of satisfaction and engagement at the workplace.
Beyond the desk
The team’s commitments stretch beyond the walls of the workplace and desks to focus on environmental issues. Movate aligns with the UNGC principles of equality, sustainability, and human rights in daily business operations. Taking time out to contribute to the community as one team instills a deep sense of satisfaction as employees witness the fruits of their efforts. Check out the various projects listed in the ESG webpage and report.
Gig for good
Tying back to the earlier point on going beyond the desk, the “Gig for Good” initiative empowers under-served talent or communities via alliances with non-profit organizations to source diverse talent, train, certify, and promote DEI in the gig workforce market.
Movate’s Directly OnDemand, gig customer experience ecosystem elevates customer support and by its very nature ensures a heterogenous workforce—a diversity that ripples with novel and creative ideas. The platform meets customer expectations by connecting a global network of gig peer experts across languages. Apart from the traditional support model, Movate’s fluid approach entails elastic or flexible support from peer experts with deep product knowledge and experience using the brand they support. This fluid or flexible support model is swift and drives empathetic resolutions when needed the most. Imagine 90% CSAT levels with 30-40% less investment from clients in contrast to the traditional support model. The end results are delighted customers, happy employees and the cycle continues.
High-tech & high-touch
In a market where digital CX is all about premium support experiences, the team also believes in striking the right mix between tech and talent. The high-tech and high-touch approach is driving EX as it entails cross-functional teams to ensure diverse ideas and viewpoints are voiced out. This approach permeates a culture of experimentation and “dare to risk” with latest technological breakthroughs in ML, AI, NLP and data-led insights. As ideas are valued and acted on, employees are spurred to go the extra yard in doing things differently.
Innovation is collective effort where every Movator’s voice is heard loud and clear.
Deploying latest tech
Sourcing and retaining skilled professionals in niche areas like data science, AI/GenAI, LLM prompt engineering, cybersecurity may not be a smooth sailing for HR. But Movate’s revamped strategies leveraging AI and data analytics identifies top talent and offers competitive pay packages, enriching job roles and career progression routes. Strategic mapping of talent sources with AI tools enhances candidate experience with multi-device UX tools and dwindles hiring costs by 40-50%. Cognitive search features embedded in TAMS (Talent Acquisition Management System) makes this possible as AI applications do the strategic work or mapping and spotting future-ready talent. The right fit between the employee and the job role translates to higher satisfaction and retention levels.
Focus on wellness
Mental health takes on ever-increasing focus in the industry and Movate’s HRListening program provides 24×7 employee support and direct access to the Chief People Officer (CPO). The PAC (People Advisory Council) has employees participating in it for deciding on sound policies. PAC initiative takes 360-degree coverage in understanding the ground realities and challenges via the participation of Movators as council members. Round-the-clock employee assistance, HR chatbots help in swifter resolution of questions while other initiatives include virtual mindfulness sessions and digital detox programs. Rewards & Recognition (R&R) programs put the spotlight on employees apart from leadership town halls and flexible working hours to boost morale and support mental health. Productivity levels take a positive turn as employees know that their managers have their back and care for them.
Holistic well-being programs make Movate a happier, healthier, and productive workplace.
Diversity at the forefront
In an industry that has witnessed workforce diversity and inclusion (D&I) gain prominence and relevance, Anish highlighted Movate’s unwavering commitment in fostering gender diversity and offering equitable opportunities for all Movators. Proactive D&I approaches involve frameworks and policies such as Women Leadership Mentoring Program (W25) and WIN (Women’s Initiative Network). They vigorously support career development via mentoring and networking among women.
Movate supports stay-at-home mothers to re-enter the workforce via special programs such as WoW (Welcoming our Warriors).
Anish acknowledged the progress in fostering gender diversity and stated that the journey toward equity and inclusion is an ongoing one. This initiative is evaluated in view of metrics across gender representation across levels, gender pay gap and employee engagement levels. A mix of people from different backgrounds and cultures is what lends the richness and liveliness at work for Movators.
Key alliances
Strategic partnerships with nasscom Foundation focus on training deserving candidates, especially women with disabilities, in the latest technologies. Alliances with ICT Academy and TASK (Telangana Academy for Skill & Knowledge) focus on creating a diverse talent hub with the goal of training and hiring five thousand freshers over the next 3 years. These learning programs quench Movators’ thirst for learning and growth.
Movate’s strategies have held it in good stead in contributing toward a vibrant talent community despite the evolving market dynamics.
